This issue of the A-Profiler, Nelson Wong interviews performing artist Connie Lim. Find out how Lim got her start in music, what inspires her to write music, and what deep fried food is her weakness.

In 10 words of less, how would you describe yourself?

I am an insanely passionate, quirky, extroverted introvert.

Has creating music always been a part of your life? What is your earliest memory of your love for music?
I have been writing music since I was 8 years old. I would sit at the piano and write little 2 minute didees. I remember the first song I wrote was called Healthy People. I remember watching my first commmercial of the starving children in Africa, and I wanted to write a song to hope for a different world where other kids wouldn't be hungry. Lol. I was a socially conscious little hippy from the start.

Did your parents encourage your interest in music or did they see it as a side interest?
I remember moments where my parents would say the most disastrous things for the creative soul. It was out of their love; they were very conservative and conventional people, so music was to be a side project as I pursued something like ...

    Kevin Yee

This issue of the A-Profiler, Raymond Lam interviews performing artist Kevin Yee. Find out why Yee dislikes roller coasters, why he enjoys acting in student films, and what challenges he has faced as a performing artist.

    Which musical best describes you?
I guess I’ve always connected with Wicked. The story of a misunderstood outcast…

I’ve read that you have a fear of roller coasters; how did this fear begin and how did you deal with riding the “Corkscrew” 27 times consecutively?
I don’t like riding roller coasters because they just look scary and I always think I’m going to have a heart attack. When I was hired to film a commercial for the roller coaster “Corkscrew” I didn’t really know what I was in for. I also really wanted to be on a commercial because I was ten and had never been in one before. The ride started and I thought I was going to vomit… ESPECIALLY when it went upside down. But they didn’t even give me an opportunity to get off or quit because the ride just kept going 27 times consecutively and never stopped. I’ve been on rollercoaster’s since and I still hate them.

What other phobias do you have?
    Anything death related ...
