This issue of the A-Profiler, Nelson Wong interviews actress Natalie Kim. Find out how the SuperTwins web series project got started, how she feels about wearing spandex, and why she dislikes zombies.

What was the precise moment in your life where you realized that you wanted to be an actress? Were the people around you (family and friends) supportive of you becoming an actress? What training have you gone through?
When I was five years old, I would dance on our huge front lawn as cars drove by. A lot of times the cars would slow down and stop and stare. I enjoyed that.

I never attended a conservatory but I did take acting at HB Studios as well as movement and voice classes.

I don't come from a traditional Asian background so my family wasn't against it but I did have an accountant friend who said that women had a shelf lives so being an actress wasn't smart. Needless to say I don't really hang out with people like that.

Do you consider yourself a comedy actress primarily? Have you faced any adverse experiences being an Asian American actress? If so, how did you put a positive spin on a negative situation?

This issue of the A-Profiler, Raymond Lam interviews musician Larry Tran (aka The Keepsake). Find out how the name "The Keepsake" came about, what it was like filming his music video Fighting for You, and why he likes warm weather.

How would your friends describe who you are?
I decided to take the guesswork out of it and asked them this question myself. They described me as being free, fun-loving, optimistic, persistent, stubborn, creative, romantic, thoughtful, heroic, uninhibited, adventurous, and someone who has great potential. Man I love my friends.

How did you come up with the name "The Keepsake?"
Coming up with a name I actually liked has been the most frustrating to do as a musician because once you decide on a name you’re kind of stuck with it. "The Keepsake" was originally the title of my song Note To Self. I thought it would do more for me as a stage name than a song title so I adopted it.

How would you describe your personal style?
I don’t have any personal philosophies on it. I like to experiment though. I’m a fan of fitted vintage clothes. Sometimes my clothes are too fitted…

What is your ethnic background? What languages do you speak?
I’m full Vietnamese. I can speak well enough ...

Seven years ago, who would have thunk it? A stoner comedy film starring two Asian Americans would a) be successful, and b) eventually evolve into a movie trilogy? Really? No way.

    Way.

At the birth of the Harold & Kumar franchise in 2004, it was somewhat of a novelty to center a comedic film around Asian American lead characters. Particularly a movie that was widely distributed across the country. Typically, so-called Asian movies are of the foreign film genre or action flick department; and often, in either category, they’re subtitled. So, to say that the original installment, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, was groundbreaking for Asian Americans could be an understatement.

Seeing the series reach trilogy status is not only somewhat surprising ...
